Choosing a Midwife
When interviewing a birth care provider, be sure to discuss your own
thoughts, feelings, and concerns about pregnancy and birth. Here’s a
list of issues to consider ahead of time. Questions to Ask
How was she trained? What is her experience?
What do her services include?
Does she work alone or with assistants? What would happen if she were unavailable during your birth?
Does she limit the number of births she attends per month?
How can you contact her, and when is she available to you?
What equipment does she carry?
What experience has she had with complications?
What happens in case of medical emergency?
What are her fees and payment schedule? What other costs might be you encounter (lab work, other practitioners)?
